"He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation." Psalms 89:26 KJV.
"Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place." 2Chronicles 7:15 KJV
"And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full." John 16:23-24 KJV.
It is the will of God that every child of God develops a close prayer relationship with our heavenly Father. Talking to God on a regular basis facilitates spiritual growth. Even human relationships thrive when there is close personal communication between spouses. His word teaches us to ask in the name of Jesus Christ. (John 16:24). Jesus Christ promised when we ask we receive so that our joy may be full. We should however ask according to His will. His word says in 1John 5:14 "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us" KJV.
His word also teaches us not to ask so that we satisfy lusts of the flesh. James 4:3 teaches us to ask on target- according to his will not to satisfy desires of the flesh. Matthew 6:6 teaches us that there is reward for prayer.
The Lord Jesus Christ gave us a prayer outline in Matthew 6:9-13 - we should address God as our Father, start by worshipping Him, hallowing His names, asking for His will to be done, praying for the manifestation of His kingdom, His will to be done, praying for personal needs, forgiving others and asking for forgiveness, asking for deliverance from the wicked one. Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you for the privilege of coming into your presence through Jesus Christ. Thank you for giving me your grace and glory and for not withholding any good thing from those who walk uprightly. I ask you today Lord to reveal yourself to me and to grant me revelation as I seek to know you more and more. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen.
