Chapter 1: Introduction
You were created by God to have dominion, rulership and the ability to make things happen that give you advantage in every area of life. In dominion is the capacity to do and accomplish the will, purpose and plan of Almighty God, for your life on the earth. When Almighty God created man, the first thing He did was to bless them, to instil within them a program of positive outcomes in every area of their lives. In the same breath, He gave them dominion. Dominion is the capacity to make things happen that give you advantage.
We read in Genesis 1:26-28:
26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
Key Points:
- Almighty God created man and blessed him and gave him dominion over the earth and over the enemy satan.
- Dominion is capacity to make things happen to give you advantage and the capacity to navigate the will, purpose and plan of God for your life.
The fall of man, in the Garden of Eden, resulted in spiritual death- man was separated from God. It also resulted in loss of dominion and handing over dominion to the enemy satan. The agenda of satan is to frustrate the will, purpose and plan of God for your life. Let us look at this in some detail.
We read in Genesis 3:1-19:
Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?"
2 And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden;
3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.' "
4 Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die.
5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
9 Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, "Where are you?"
10 So he said, "I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself."
11 And He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?"
12 Then the man said, "The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate."
13 And the Lord God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."
14 So the Lord God said to the serpent:
"Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel."
16 To the woman He said: "I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you."
17 Then to Adam He said, "Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it': "Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life.
18 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field.
19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return."
Not only did the fall of man result in spiritual death, but it also resulted in loss of dominion over satan, it resulted in disease, sickness and pain, as well as poverty, lack, barrenness, and toil.
Jesus Christ's Redemptive Work:
Jesus Christ came to reverse this package in its entirety. He was manifested:
-
a. To die for the sin of the world, to shed His own blood for the forgiveness of sin and to give us righteousness, and capacity to be born again into the household of God, to bring us back to live our lives in the presence of Almighty God and to give us the experience of eternal life. To redeem mankind from disease and sickness, To redeem mankind from poverty and lack, bareness and toil.
-
b. And to defeat the enemy satan, to judge and sentence satan, to crash the head of the serpent and give back dominion to mankind so that they can navigate the purpose, will and plan of God for their lives.
Key Points:
- At the fall of man, man died spiritually- became separated from God, man also lost dominion to the enemy satan, whose aim is to frustrate the plan, purpose and will of God for your life.
- Jesus Christ was manifested to reverse the package in its entirety and to bring us back into the presence of God through the sacrifice he made through His suffering, death, and resurrection. He restored back to mankind dominion over satan.
Your Dominion Through Christ
Through Jesus Christ, you receive anointing for dominion, for rulership and navigation.
Through Jesus Christ you have not only received salvation, but you have been made a king (a decision maker with dominion) and a priest -one who stands before God on behalf of yourself and others and one who stands before people on behalf of Almighty God.
That is why we read in Revelation 1:4-6:
John, to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne,
5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.
To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
You notice then in verses 5 and 6 that Jesus Christ washed us in His own blood (giving us the anointing of salvation) and made us kings (anointing of dominion) and priests (anointing for service, for ministry) to our God.
We also notice the same anointings being described in Revelation 5:9-10:
And they sang a new song, saying:
"You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10 And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth."
The Three Anointings:
The Anointing for Salvation enables you to be in the presence of Almighty God and to remain in the presence of Almighty God. It enables you to understand righteousness through Jesus Christ, to understand your redemption through Christ, to understand holiness, to understand sonship and to understand the power of a continuous positive attitude in Jesus Christ. The anointing for salvation is covered in the book Vessels of Excellence Section 1: Experiencing the God of Jesus Christ Chapters 1-7 and Section 2: Critical areas of knowledge for the child of God: Chapters 8-12 to which the reader is referred.
The Priestly Anointing enables you to minister to God on behalf of people, as well as ministering to people on behalf of God through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. It enables you to stand before Almighty God and intercede, it enables you to witness the power of Jesus Christ and it enables ministry gifts to flow through you including ministry of helping others. This is covered in the Book Vessels of Excellence Section 3: Almighty God's Promises to You, Section 4: Growing into Maturity in the Service of Almighty God and Section 5: Activities of Excellence to which the reader is referred.
The Kingly Anointing for Dominion enables you to rule in this life through Jesus Christ. It enables you to arrive at your intended destination, and to accomplish the will and purpose of Almighty God for your life. It enables you to navigate this life. It enables you, through the Christ in you, to make things happen that gives you advantage. That is why we read in Romans 5:17:
For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
It is the will of God that you reign in life with and through Jesus Christ. The kingly anointing of dominion and rulership is the subject of this book.
The Seven-Fold Anointings of Dominion
There are seven dimensions of the kingly anointing for dominion which you need to seek and possess. These are:
- 1. The Spirit of the Lord,
- 2. The Spirit of Wisdom,
- 3. The Spirit of Knowledge,
- 4. The Spirit of Understanding (or the Spirit of Revelation),
- 5. The Spirit of Might, Excellence and Endurance
- 6. The Spirit of Counsel and
- 7. The Spirit of the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord.
These anointings of dominion of Jesus Christ are listed in Isaiah 11:2. All these are manifestations of the Holy Spirit, are gifts of the Holy Spirit who is also the Spirit of Jesus Christ at work in the life of a Spirit filled child of God. These anointings of the Holy Spirit help the child of God to navigate this life.
Typically, Almighty God may reveal to you the bigger picture of your life, His will for you, what He wants you to accomplish for Him. This will often be shown to you in broad terms, the broad vision. If He were to show the whole thing, it would overwhelm you. Then He will show you where you need to be next… your point B. When you reach point B, He reveals point C and so forth. For you to navigate from your point A to point B, and point B to C and so forth in accomplishing and will, purpose and plan of Almighty God for your life, you need these seven anointings of the dominion of Jesus Christ.
Another way of understanding this is this. Suppose you have fought an occupying foreign army and defeated it and recaptured land which was rightly yours. Once the enemy is defeated, you need to go in there and build to make the land habitable. You will want to build the roads and bridges, the schools, hospitals, shopping malls, recreational centres and so forth to make that land habitable. Jesus Christ by dying on the cross, defeated and disarmed satan (Colossians 2:15). He judged and sentenced satan to the Lake of Fire for all eternity (John 5:27, John 12:31, John 16:11), He destroyed satan (Hebrews 2:14-15 AMPC) and released and completely set free those who all their lives were subjected to bondage due to fear of death. Jesus Christ defeated satan, liberated us from bondage to fear of death, so that we can accomplish the will and purpose of Almighty God for our lives. The seven-fold anointings of dominion help us to accomplish that purpose. You need to be conscious of these anointings and to seek them prayerfully in any given situation.
