Title: The power of forgiveness.

“And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:12-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Bitterness, resentment and un-forgiveness of wrongs done against us can be a serious hindrance to the working of God in your life. It is critical to periodically examine yourself  and ask oneself: Who do I need to forgive? Who do I resent? Whom am I bitter against? When we are in the state of un-forgiveness all our debts to God are due. This will hinder your prayers from being answered, will hinder spiritual growth, hinders spiritual warfare. It will also hinder you from experiencing the presence of God, His joy and His peace. It hinders you from hearing the voice of God and having a victorious life as a child of God. Forgiveness brings you healing from the wounds of the past.
In Matthew 18: 23-35  the Lord Jesus gave a parable of a servant who owed his master ten thousand talents, as he could not pay, he begged his master to forgive his debt, which he did. The same servant went and found a fellow servant who owed him one hundred cents. When he could not pay, he went and threw him in prison. When the master heard what the servant had done, he was angry and threw him to tormentors until he had paid all that was due. The Lord Jesus completed this parable saying in verse 35: "So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18:35‬ ‭KJV‬.

Forgiving those who trespass against us is therefore mandatory to the child of God because we also have been forgiven. Forgiving by its very nature is painful. It needs to be done knowing it is a requirement for our own forgiveness. It is our choice and an act of the will. When you forgive you choose to let go, unconditionally.

Prayer: Thank you Lord Jesus Christ for forgiving my sin through the blood you shed on the cross. I today forgive all who have transgressed against me from my heart. I release all bitterness and resentment. Amen.
