Title: Going for the mountains
“As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in. Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the Lord said.”
Joshua 14:11-12 KJV
Forty years after being sent out to spy the land of promise, Caleb the son of Jephunneh, reminded Joshua how he had wholly followed the Lord his God. Now he was asking for his reward. Notice:
1. He was as strong then as he was 45 years earlier (I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me -Philippians 4:13)
2. He asked for the mountain, not for the valleys- valleys are often easy but he chose the mountain- not the easy option, but the hard option- harder options often achieve bigger things for your God.
This story is a figure of the blessings we receive in Jesus Christ as we serve God whole heartedly. He wants you to experience His joy, peace, wellbeing, confidence victory and total soundness in spirit, soul and body. He wants you to be an achiever -to ask for the mountains not the valleys. (See also Ephesians 1:3, Romans 8:17)
Prayer: My Father in heaven I thank you for Jesus Christ my Lord and Saviour. Thank you that I have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ. I follow you Lord wholeheartedly. Thank you for strength for every day. Today I ask for the mountains Lord as I serve you. In Jesus's name Amen.
Confession: I Am a child of God, seated at the right hand of the Father, an heir of the Father and joint heir with Jesus Christ. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I follow my God wholeheartedly and ask for the mountains in the service of Jesus Christ for a little one shall become a thousand.
