Title: Pass the test of commitment.
“And so it was, when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha,
'Ask! What may I do for you, before I am taken away from you?' Elisha said,
'Please let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.'” 2 Kings 2:9 NKJV.
The story of how Elijah was taken away from Elisha teaches us about the power of commitment to a vision.
Elisha was given opportunities to abandon Elijah on a number of occasions,
at Gilgal, at Bethel, and at Jericho . (2 Kings 2:1-7). At each of these occasions,
Elisha was asked to leave Elijah :Elisha, stay here please for the Lord has sent me to.. Bethel, then Jericho, then Jordan.
At Gilgal, 2 Kings 2:2 tells us: Then Elijah said to Elisha, "Stay here, please, for the Lord has sent me on to Bethel."
But Elisha said, "As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!" So they went down to Bethel.
At Bethel, 2 Kings 2:4 tells us:Then Elijah said to him, "Elisha, stay here, please, for the Lord has sent me on to Jericho."
But he said, " As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!" So they came to Jericho.
At Jericho , 2 Kings 2:6 tells us: Then Elijah said to him, "Stay here, please, for the Lord has sent me on to Jordan."
But he said, " As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!" So the two of them went on.
Now please understand Gilgal is the place of searching for salvation, seeking for God. The place at which you get saved, and set yourself apart and consecrate yourself for God.
Then you arrive at Bethel. This is the place where you know God for yourself, where you have a personal experience with God.
The place where you embrace God's promises. The place where you embrace the vision of serving God.
Like Jacob at Bethel he experienced God for himself.
The God of his father became his own. God spoke to him and promised to keep,
protect and to give him his own land. (Genesis 28: 11-22).
Then you arrive at Jericho. This is the place of trials and testing. The place where you need courage for war and endurance. The place where you live by faith.
Remember when Joshua and the children of Israel came to Jericho they found a fortified city,
they had to go round it once every day for seven days and on the seventh day, they encircled it seven times.
They then blew the trumpets and made a great shout and the walls of Jericho fell. (Joshua 6:2-21).
Jericho is therefore the place of battle, of perseverence.
Then you arrive at Jordan, the place of crossing into the promised land, crossing into your inheritance.
The place of receiving and realising the promises of God. The place where you receive the breakthough.
Across the Jordan is the promised land.
You will experience your own tests of loyalty, commitment and resolve.
On each occasion Elisha declared "As the Lord lives I will not leave you." Hold on to the promises of God.
After passing his tests, Elijah asked the question that gave Elisha a blank cheque.
"Ask what may I do for you before I am taken away from you?"
Point of reflection:
Elisha's heart was right with God and with his leader and mentor.
He was totally sold out to the will of God and to accomplishing His purpose.
He thought for a second, if Elijah is taken away from me then I must continue with his work.
Therefore I need a special anointing. Elisha did not struggle much to get an answer-
he asked for a double portion of the spirit which was upon Elijah so that he could do even better-
His mind wad focused onto doing the will of God.
As Matthew 6:33 says “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,
and all these things shall be added to you.”
Do you desire to seek first the kingdom of God always?
Getting it right in moments like this is by the grace of God so that is what you need to plead for.
When you are ready-
Prayer of consecration:
Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I thank you for sending your Son to suffer and die for me.
I acknowledge the risen Jesus Christ as Lord of my life today.
I reject every working of the enemy satan and every demonic oppression upon my life in the name of Jesus Christ.
I ask you Father in the name of Jesus Christ to fill me with your Holy Spirit right now.
I pray for your grace to be multiplied upon my life that I may always seek first the kingdom of God
and His righteousness, knowing that everything else will be added to me.
In Jesus Christ's name I pray. Amen.

Year in Focus
2026 The Year of Almighty God's Special Treasure
2026 is the year of Almighty God’s special treasure.
In this year, Almighty God wants you to engage with Him as a person after His own heart who desires to accomplish His purpose, plan and will.
A person who seeks the burden of Almighty God as you pray and intercede, as you witness the love of Jesus Christ through your various platforms
and as you exercise faithful stewardship of your time, of the mysteries of God entrusted to you and of substance.
His word tells us in Psalms 89:19-23:
'Then You spoke in a vision to Your holy one, and said: “I have given help to one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen from the people.
20 I have found My servant, David; With My holy oil I have anointed him,
21 With whom My hand shall be established; also, My arm shall strengthen him.
22The enemy shall not outwit him, Nor the son of wickedness afflict him (NKJV).
23 I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague those who hate him.'
In 2026 there is help ordained for you from Almighty God. You have been waiting upon God with your heart focused on Him, on establishing His hand on Planet Earth.
Receive the help of God. Let the anointing of the Holy Spirit flow upon your life as you meditate on His word.
What you need to know:
Our Almighty God is a faithful God, that means He is trustworthy, He is dependable and follows things through.
His word tells us:
'He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.' I Thessalonians 5:24.
'Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.' Genesis 28:15 (NKJV).
'Blessed be the Lord, who has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He promised. There has not failed one word of all His good promise, which He promised through His servant Moses. ' 1 Kings 8:56 (NKJV).
Remember:
'God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
20 Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.' Numbers 23:19-20 (NKJV).
(see also Isaiah 46:9-11, Isaiah 14:24-27)
What you need to understand and have a revelation of:
There is in the calendar of God something called the fullness of time.
His word tells us:
'Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.'
Habakkuk 2:2-3 (NKJV).
Remember also:
'Now the sojourn of the children of Israel who lived in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years.
41And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years—on that very same day—it came to pass that all the armies of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt. 'Exodus 12:40-41 (NKJV).
In fact, it was precise to the second- at midnight, at the stroke of midnight first-borns were struck and Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron and said -Go and serve your God.
We read in Galatians 4:4-5:
'But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.' (NKJV).
In your life and in the Ministry, you need to wait upon Him, but while you wait be busy doing what needs to be done today.
What you need to do-
a) Keep your eyes on the word of God.
His word tells us:
'Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.' Colossians 3:16 (NKJV).
'Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.' John 8:31-32 (NKJV).
b) Be conscious of the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life.
We read in John 14:15-17 (AMPC):
' If you [really] love Me, you will keep (obey) My commands.
16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever–
17 The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.'
c) Be in prayer.
His word teaches us:
'Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, ' Ephesians 6:18-19 (NKJV).
d) Remember your personal prayer agenda with God.
His word teaches us:
'Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”' Luke 18:6-8 (NKJV).
Psalms 91:15 tells us:
'He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.' (NKJV).
Almighty God has promised to answer you as you ask in the name of Jesus Christ.
Much grace and peace be multiplied to you.
In the service of Jesus Christ.
