Title: As you hunger and thirst for righteousness, the Almighty God of Jesus Christ declares you are blessed and promises to fill you up to the brim.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.”

Matthew 5:6 NKJV

Hungering and thirsting for righteousness is an attitude of the heart. When you hunger after something it means you are ready to eat it. When you thirst after something it means you are ready to drink it. Now here is what it means: His word tells us in Psalms 119:103 (NKJV): How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth!” Those who hunger after righteousness, eat the word of God. That it why 1 Peter 2:2-3 (NKJV) says: "As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” I Peter 2:2-3 NKJV.

Likewise thirsting after righteousness means desiring to drink from the Holy Spirit. That is why His word tells us in John 7:37-38: On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” The word of God teaches us that He spake this referring to the Holy Spirit. In John 4:10 Jesus Christ said if you ask of me I would give you living water. He goes further to say in John 4:13-24: Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

Point of Reflection: Hungering after righteousness is seeking the word of God, to know it and understand it and allowing it to transform your mind, because as you seek His word, Jesus Christ is revealed to you. Remember Jesus Christ is the Word of God. (John 1:1,14, Revelations 19:13) Thirsting after righteousness is desiring the empowering and filling of the Holy Spirit earnestly. The Holy Spirit is described as the Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby (John 14:16 AMP) who will abide with you forever. Without the Holy Spirit you are orphaned comfortless, desolate, bereaved, forlorn and helpless.(John 14:18AMP).

Do you  hunger and thirst after righteousness? Commit to take time with the word of God and earnestly desire to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Call to action: Take an attitude of hungering and thirsting after righteousness, set aside time everyday to study His word and to pray. Seek and desire to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Desire is key. When you are ready-

Prayer of commitment: Heavenly Father thank you for Jesus Christ and that He suffered, died and rose again for our justification.  I ask you Lord Jesus to be my Lord from today.I reject and denounce every working of the enemy Satan and his demons upon my life and I plead the covering and protection of the blood of Jesus Christ upon my life. I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit right now in Jesus Christ's name I pray, Amen.
