“And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.”
Luke 4:32, 36 KJV.
The word of God in Jesus Christ is packaged with power to transform your life, your situation and to deliver you from every bondage the enemy wants to put you in. For the power to be manifested the word of God must be understood and believed and taken to heart by those who hear it. That is why the word of God teaches us in Romans 1:16: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
The word of God, the good news or gospel is the power of God that brings total and complete deliverance, transformation, completeness and soundness in spirit, soul and body to those who open their hearts to it, understand it and believe it (that is having personal trust, a confident surrender and firm reliance) on it.
Point of reflection: Your heart is like a soil in which a seed is sown. A well cultivated soil, soft, airy and well watered will make a seed germinate and grow to bear fruit whereas hard, rocky soil is not conducive for seed germination or growth. You can work on your own heart and remove distractors: first seek to understand the word of God, then remove fear, understand that if you focus on the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches, it hinders spiritual growth. Let your focus be on true enduring values (faith, hope and love) not vanity. Also allow the word of God to take root in you- allow it time. Revelation can occur in an instant but spiritual growth needs time. (See Matthew 13:19-23). Do you desire the word of God to bear fruit in you? If yes-
Prayer: Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I thank you for the power packaged in your word. I open my heart to understand your word and remove every hindrance to fruitfulness through your word. As your word is sent to your people across Planet Earth, I pray Father for the removal of every hindrance to fruitfulness of your word in every life. In Jesus Christ's name I pray. Amen.
