Title: Obedience to Jesus Christ makes you a special treasure to Him.
“Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.”
Exodus 19:5-6 KJV
“And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”
1 Samuel 15:22 KJV
The Lord Jesus Christ values and treasures greatly your obedience to Him. Obedience on the other hand comes from a heart which has total and complete trust in God. A heart that has understood His attributes- that He is holy, just, righteous, good, loving and desires the best for you in every given situation, even when sometimes it's not immediately apparent to you. You have heard it said that one's value to one's superiors and bosses lies in their sendability. We all value the person we can send to do something and know it's done. The same applies to our heavenly Father. When you obey Him, when He can ask you to do something and He knows you will do it, He says you are a special treasure to Him, a royal priest, His own peculiar person, God's own person, a sign and a wonder. (See also 1 Peter 2:9).
You may ask where do I begin? It all sounds very good. Your starting point is in obedience to the message of the gospel. Acknowledging that Jesus Christ, Son of God came to this world to die for your sin, shed His blood that you may be forgiven, but on third day God raised Him from the dead and is alive today. Open your heart to Him and acknowledge Him as Lord. Jesus Christ by His Spirit will regenerate your spirit, change you from inside by His grace and give you the capacity to obey God. When you are saved, regenerated or born again you will have received the ability to obey God.
That is why Romans 10:9 says: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
KJV. After that you need to begin a process of renewing your mind with the word of God.
Prayer: Heavenly Father I thank you for sending your Son Jesus Christ to die for my sin. I acknowledge you Jesus as Lord of my life from today, thank you for changing me from the inside, for saving me and giving me the capacity to obey God. In Jesus Christ's name I pray. Amen.
