Title: The mercy and favour of God is upon you.
“But the Lord was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.”
Genesis 39:21 KJV
Joseph had a dream from God. He cherished and guarded this dream. As we read this story it begins by telling us that his father loved Joseph and gave him a coat of many colours.
Jesus Christ has loved you with everlasting love. His word teaches us in John 13:1 “Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.”
His word also tells us that His love for us is of the greatest quality in John
15:13 “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Your Heavenly Father loved you and also gave you a coat of many colours. This speaks of the various gifts and abilities in you. Never despise your gifts. Know that you are a part of the body of Christ and have functions in the body of Christ. No part of the body can do without the other. 1Corinthians
12:12 says “For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.”
Verse 21 of the same chapter goes on to say: And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.”
So child of God, know that there is a purpose for which God is raising you.
Going back to the story of Joseph- he was thrown into a deep pit, then sold to Ishmaelites who took him to Egypt where he was sold ( for the second time ) to Potiphar an officer of Pharaoh. From there he was sent to prison for an offence he had not committed. From the prison he became prime minister of Egypt and God's purpose was fulfilled in his life finally. Notice that in that journey, Joseph remained positive. Without an apostle or pastor to guide him and without a written scripture, he knew his God. He knew Romans
8:28 which says: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
He loved God for sure and had been called according to His purpose, he gad set himself apart to do the will of God. Each and every situation he went through though seemingly negative was taking him a step closer to accomplishing his God ordained purpose. In the process he was getting tougher and more resilient. Let's examine the purposes- the pit- was for waiting for the Ishaemalites to arrive. Sold to Ishmaelites- purpose to take him to Egypt where purpose of God awaited him. Sold to Potiphar - purpose - Potiphar was officer of Pharaoh who knew how to send people to the secure prison. Sent to prison - purpose- that's where the butler and baker if Pharaoh were also to come - these remember were the journalists who reported Joseph yo Pharaoh. It would have been very easy for Joseph to mourn, pity-party, get into depression etc instead he remained positive and the presence, the favour and mercies of God manifested on him more and more.
What key did he possess- he had consecrated, set himself apart for the purpose and will of God. Everything thrown at him was propelling him towards his mission and purpose.
Lamentation
3:22-23 says “It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
Finally Joseph became Prime Minister of Egypt, and the purpose and mission of God was accomplished. What a journey to mission that was!
Point of Reflection:
Thank God for loving you in Jesus Christ with everlasting, highest quality love and for giving you a coat of many colours.
Consecrate, set yourself apart for Him, for His purpose and for doing His will. Declare to Satan you have nothing in him and he has nothing in you, that he was defeated on the cross and has been judged and sentenced to eternity in the Lake of Fire.
Thank the Lord for His favour and mercy upon your life as you accomplish His purpose and will upon Planet Earth.
